Ron Wiencek

In Memoriam
Graduation Year: 1973
December 23, 1955 - May 10, 1990

Ronny Wiencek was a lifelong Virginian, born in a D.C. hospital, raised in Falls Church. He went to Mount Daniel Elementary School through the sixth grade, then on to George Mason for middle school, which started in 7th grade back then.

Ronny played sports through the Falls Church Recreation Department. He played Little League baseball, basketball, pick up games at the Community Center with his friends and went water skiing in the summers behind his Dad’s boat, starting at the age of eight.

When he graduated from high school, he lived in Fairfax County and worked with his Dad’s contracting company. By the age of 21, he owned his own car, boat, motorcycle and took over his Dad’s company, making it his.

His hobbies were sports and flying. He soon became a pilot and took many trips, piloting the plane himself. Ronny started a baseball team with his friends and was the Coach. He took his friends boating and was the Captain. He took his friends on long trips and was the Pilot. In short, he was the “Leader of the Pack,” and everyone wanted to be around him for his kindnesses, charm and ability to include everyone in whatever he was involved with.

Involving all he knew, Ron had a large wedding in 1989. He was married for seven months. His wife was three months pregnant with their first child when the ultimate misfortune struck.

Ronny’s life ended tragically in an airplane accident. Fellow GM student, Jim Wolfe, Class of 1976, was also in the plane. Ron was 34, Jim was 32. They will always be remembered by all for their kindness to others, their sense of humor, their adventurous spirits, their love of living and their beautiful smiles. Ronny and Jimmy will live in our hearts always as GM alumni and as our brothers, sons and friends. Two trees were planted in their honor on the high school grounds as they leave their legacy behind for all to remember.

The first photo is Ronny in high school.
The second photo is Ronny and Sharon Wolfe (GMHS '74) on his motorcycle at the beach.
The third photo is Ronny on his wedding day, with his sister Debbie Wiencek (GMHS '71).
The fourth photo is Ronny scuba diving, one of his many sports.
The fifth photo is the tree that the Wiencek family had planted in Ronny's memory that grew for decades on the old George Mason High School land.
